Christmas Time Again

It's Christmas Again!

Christmas is a time for giving. Why not give something a little bit special. Give someone a memory of time gone by. Or turn a memory into something new and fantastic. Such as colourizing an old black and white photo of a loved one for Christmis. Like the example below.

Frame it and wrap it, put it under the tree and wait for the smiles! These gifts are special for everyone. We can offer the full package from restoration to colourizing, printing  and framing. Now is the time to get your orders in because time is limited and Christmis is coming!!

Where did he go?

Where did he go?

John asked me to remove a person from this photo that he sent me. This was so the restored photo could be put in to a book he was publishing.

The process of removing someone from a photo is a little more complicated than most people seem to imagine. I wish there was a simple magic brush that we painted over the unwanted area and then it removed the person. In reality there is more to this type of photo restoration.

Firstly we have to remove the person by cutting them out. On the digital screen we draw a selection around the person to be removed and then delete this area. This leaves a hole in the image and this needs to be filled by what we imagine was behind the person. In this case it was some steps and a wall. Using the clone and healing tools we have to clone surrounding areas to slowly fill in the missing areas to restore the missing pieces and complete the restoration.

Customer Feedback

Hi Richard,
They look great. Many thanks.

Add colour and make your photo time travel!

Old black and white photos are wonderful. They show a time that was long ago. But when you add colour to a black and white photo. You bring them forward in time so to speak. Therefore they look real and they have more life to them. It is as though they were taken yesterday. It becomes an amazing transformation.

Add Colour

The process to do this colourizing magic is not all science. In fact most of it is down to artistic flair and skill. Once the original black and white image is restored and looking like new again, the re-colourizing process can begin.  The process all takes place in Photoshop but the colours are painted in by hand using a 'digital brush'.  The colours are all chosen by the artist too. We do not know from the black and white photo which shade of grey is which colour. So researching the period and other information including feedback from the client is all very important to the final result.

The photo restoration colourizing example below is a fine example how colour can really make a an big impact.
